Kindergarten is when schooling typically starts for young children; however, new students could benefit from getting a head start. By providing children with an early education and necessary skills, they will surely have a bright future. The V.P.K. program in Weston, FL, is that head start. A program that gives children an opportunity to enhance pre-reading, pre-math, language, and social skills, those who participate are more likely to be successful in the following years of school. Making the adjustment to going to school can be a challenge for some and the V.P.K. program makes learning fun and will ease the transition to kindergarten, first grade, and beyond that much smoother.
V.P.K. in Weston goes one step further. Taking learning beyond books, the qualified teachers in the program guide children and help the development of strong character traits such as respect, honesty, responsibility, self-control, tolerance, kindness, and citizenship. Bringing together a traditional education as well as life skills, this program gives your child a well-rounded education that will ensure many successful years of school.
The Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program – V.P.K is a free pre-kindergarten program for four and five-year-olds who reside in Florida. Children must be four years old on or before September 1. Parents can enroll children in this free program or wait until the following year when their child is five.
There are two V.P.K. programs available:
- The school-year program includes 540 hours of instructional time and begins in August.
- The summer program consists of 300 instructional hours and begins in June.
Starting school, being in a new environment, and interacting with other children can be scary if they are shy or haven’t gained confidence in themselves. This program offers high literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curriculum, and manageable classroom sizes so that each student gets the attention, guidance, and support they need to be strong readers and excited students.
