Lil' Rascals Academy is a natural extension of a family-oriented atmosphere and was founded to create a positive environment for growth and social interaction with eight facilities to best suit your child's needs. We teach each child in a consistent and loving manner with emphasis on respect, responsibility, tolerance, kindness and cooperation.
Our goal at Lil' Rascals Academy is to provide our children with the very best care available in the preschool industry. Our philosophy is embodied in the commitment to create an environment that meets the needs of the whole child and promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development using creativity and developmentally, age-appropriate practices. We encourage all parents to take a tour of our schools and to develop a relationship between the Teacher and Parent.
Infants and Toddlers
At Lil' Rascals Academy, we believe that young children learn best while in a warm, loving, nurturing environment.
Infants
Each infant's needs are met based on their individuality. Throughout the day they are exposed to many different stimuli. Our staff sing, hold, talk, read and interact throughout the day helping to create a sense of security for the infant. Mirrors, pictures, music and bright colors are also added to stimulate their senses. The ratio consists of a 1-4 teacher-to-child ratio.
Toddlers
Each toddler has activities tailored to encourage their growth as individuals as well as members of a social group. Each child has the opportunity to learn new and exciting skills. Listening skills and language development skills are worked with daily. The staff encourages their curiosity by providing a safe and secure environment for them to explore the world around them. The ratio consists of a 1-6 teacher-to-student ratio.
Two-Year Old
The transition from toddler to two-year old can often be a difficult one. We ease this transition by constantly providing encouragement, allowing the child to explore his/her surroundings while always providing a safe and secure environment. Value is placed on social interaction and age-appropriate activities that are fun and stimulating. Importance is placed on the experience rather than the product. Our daily scheduling is flexible while maintaining general classroom routines and rituals. The ratio consists of a 1-8 teacher-to-student ratio.
Infancy through age two is a very sensitive, important time in your child's life. Our staff works closely with you, the parent, to ensure continued success both at home and in school.
Preschool
The Creative Curriculum stimulates learning through physical, social, emotional, and cognitive concept development. We emphasize preparing your child to successfully entering kindergarten, and becoming a lifetime learner. Meaningful and long-lasting learning requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work. We accomplish this through purposeful play activities facilitated by a teaching staff that has a strong knowledge of child growth and development. The ratio consists of a 1-10 teacher-to-child ratio.
Pre-K and VPK
Our Pre-Kindergarten program focuses on preparing your child for the exciting transition to kindergarten. Skills necessary to succeed are incorporated into their weekly curriculum. We follow guidelines through Florida VPK standards. Character traits developed include respect, honesty, responsibility, self-control, tolerance, kindness, citizenship and cooperation. We believe that with the teacher and parent working together, the transition to kindergarten will be a smooth and successful one. The VPK ratio consists of a 2-18 teacher-to-student ratio.
The classroom is set up in a way that fosters the children's initiative and exploration. Each classroom is divided into learning centers. This allows children to learn through play activities that interest them. There is a focus on literacy and reading readiness, with homework given on a weekly basis.
SCHOOL AGE/CAMP
Children attending our before and after school care program know that Lil' Rascals provides them a safe and fun environment to be in before and after school and on days when elementary schools are closed. Parents can feel secure in knowing that Lil' Rascals operates a fleet of buses maintained well above industry standards.
Each child has a chance to break away from the regular routine of the school day. At Lil' Rascals, your child will have the opportunity to share with friends, burn that extra energy outside on our large, fully equipped playgrounds, participate in arts and crafts, shoot hoops on our half basketball courts, use computers, play video games, and attend weekly field trips. For those children who have homework, a separate room with a library and computer lab is available with teachers there to assist as needed. All activities are child directed and teacher supervised. The ratio consists of a 1-25 teacher-to-student ratio.
CAMP
During days off, early release, winter break, spring break, and summer camp, Lil’ Rascals Academy offers a full-day camp program for children 5-12 years of age. Our summer camp includes supervised field trips with many wonderful and exciting activities to educate as well as entertain your children. Our program provides physical exercise and fun games for a healthy lifestyle. Our arcade features many games where kids can practice competitive skills in a safe environment. Our field trips provide a supervised environment where children can unwind and explore in the safety of our staff’s supervision.
Safety is our number-one priority. We believe in well-supervised activities, daily attendance during transportation, modern well-maintained equipment, and lower ratios on field trips. Our staff are all extensively trained to have a no-nonsense lifeguard mentality. We maintain lower ratios on the field trips and divide children into groups by age.
